Headbands for Hope
Cookies for the Homeless

I am selling Girl Scout Cookies again this year. I was talking to my mom and dad about it and it made me think that homeless people probably don’t get to have them. I think that’s sad because everyone likes Girl Scout Cookies and so they should have them, too.

So, I decided that I will collect money from people who would like to help. Then I will use that money to buy Girl Scout Cookies to give to homeless people.

My dad’s friend Shay Kelley does Project 50/50 and travels to all 50 states to serve the homeless. When I buy the cookies with the money that is donated, I will give them to her so she can give them out to the people she helps on her trip.

If you would like to help, you can donate to the Headbands for Hope “cookie fund” via PayPal. Each box of cookies costs $3.50, but you can donate any amount. Just click the “Donate” button below.

Update: It looks like the “Donate” button caused problems with PayPal. They thought we were a non-profit, which isn’t true - we just give some of the money we make back to the community. But, because of some complicated rules and stuff, the donate button makes PayPal think you are a non-profit. We’re not, so we removed the button.

In case you missed me on WTHR 13 Weekend Sunrise with Nicole Micensik, here is a video of it. Since I was on TV, we’ve raised even more money for charity. Now we’ve raised $175! I will be going to the food pantry again on Monday to make another donation. :o)

Weekend Sunrise

I am so excited that I will be on Weekend Sunrise on Saturday morning to talk about Headbands for Hope. I’ll talk about what it is, why I started it and the charities I support.

The best place to find me right now is on Facebook at www.facebook.com/headbandsforhope. I have pictures of headbands I’ve made, ones that are for sale, and other cool stuff.

Watch Channel 13 on Saturday at about 8:50 a.m. Nicole Misencik will be interviewing me. I am so excited! :o)

My dad took some pictures of my first headbands! I’m so excited! I’ll add more later, but this way you can see what they look like.

What It’s All About

I decided to do Headbands for Hope because I thought it would be a fun activity and because I thought it would be a good way to help people.

I started making some headbands with my mom. I told her what I wanted them to look like and she helped me put them together because she didn’t want me to get burned with the hot glue gun. It’s really fun to do with her.

I started wearing the headbands and people kept asking me about them. So, I decided I could start selling them and give money to charity.

All of the headbands are handmade, so they are all unique. I sell them for $6-$10 depending on how much the supplies cost. I give $1 from every headband I sell to a local food pantry to help people where I live who can’t afford to buy food to eat. I also give $1 to raise money for anti-bullying resources for my school. Hopefully, I can make it bigger and help more people.

I hope you like my headbands and that we can change the world together!

P.S. - It’s my birthday today! What a great way to celebrate! :-)
